Foreword. This season is like no other, no doubt about it: and not only because is the Olympic season, happening once at every four years, but mainly because it’s an Olympic season different from what we’ve known in recent times, marred by the pandemic, doubts and insecurities. It’s a whole new scene and circumstances for skaters and their coaches, for everyone in the skating world, in the whole wide world, to adapt to. And, in times like those, you need every single ounce of energy, enthusiasm and courage you can get.
For us at Inside Skating that means – more than ever – focusing on beauty, stories with a meaning, continuity.
And this photo-journey itself – The Olympic Season in Photos – is meant to be exactly that: a continuum. We’ll show you bits and pieces of beauty, from the beginning of season to Beijing, through the eyes and lens of our photographers at various events. You’ll see the details, the nuances, the costumes changing, you’ll notice the progress, the confidence growing. Skaters becoming one with their programs as Olympics get nearer and nearer.
As for the events themselves, we won’t hassle you with many details – you know them already, plus the mind is already full with every single stimulus around. We only ask for open eyes, and (traces of) readiness to embark on this journey. We’ll do the rest.
