STEPHEN GOGOLEV: WINNING HIS FIRST SENIOR INTERNATIONAL GOLD MEDAL

The first time we heard of a very young and talented Stephen Gogolev?

It was in an interview with Brian Orser, done in 2018 – coached by Orser, Stephen had just turned 13 at the time, thinking on his feet and impressing his coach at Canadian Junior Nationals.

And then again, in another interview with Orser the same year: “He’s really good, and going to the Grand Prix Final in junior level”.

But then Stephen Gogolev’s transition to senior level, to recognition of his value on senior level, has been difficult, has been challenging.

This season though, he finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel: his hard work paid off and he won the bronze medal at 2025 CS Cranberry Cup International, and then gold at Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf – the first senior international gold medal of his career.

Second in Oberstdorf, 2025 U.S. national silver medalist, Andrew Torgashev

The European champion en-titre, Switzerland’s Lukas Britschgi also started his season in Oberstdorf, at Nebelhorn Trophy, and finished the event on the third place

Canada’s Roman Sadovsky has always been marvelous to watch

This is Jaekeun Lee’s first senior season, with Nebelhorn Trophy only his second senior competition – and he already puts himself out there fully, emotionally
