We love a serene Stephen Gogolev – and there are so many reasons to smile and be happy about: this is Stephen’s best senior season, his best international season.
In his 7th season as a senior, Stephen won his first senior international gold medal (see our story), his first senior Grand Prix medal (bronze at 2025 Finlandia Trophy, in November, where the above photo was taken) – and, these days, he has become Canada’s national champion.
His time to shine on national and international stage has finally come – and Stephen heads to Milano-Cortina, his first ever Olympics, with so much confidence won over the past couple of months.
What has been the winning formula this season?
We don’t know for sure, but we’re ready to ask. Ask Stephen, ask the coach, ask the choreographer, when the occasion presents itself (Worlds in Prague would be a good idea).
Until then, there’s Stephen in Helsinki, at Finlandia Trophy, where he won the bronze medal – and here are some of the other men too: the sparkling Yuma Kagiyama, winning the gold at Finlandia Trophy, and Adam Siao Him Fa, winner of the short program in Helsinki and silver medalist overall.

This photo-recap also features Jason Brown, Sota Yamamoto, Matteo Rizzo, Deniss Vasiljevs – all of them skaters’ skaters, as one would say. And you’ll be thrilled with the photos, we’re sure, the same way you’re thrilled with their skating.
Enjoy this last part of our series The Best Photos from Finlandia Trophy – and come again, there’s plenty more to come this season.
